Al Baraka Bank Leadership Visits LUMS
On April 21, 2025, LUMS hosted the senior leadership of Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. for a meaningful dialogue centered around access to education, inclusion, and shared growth.
The delegation was led by Mr. Azhar Aziz Dogar, Chairman of Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) Ltd., and included Mr. Azhar Hamid, Vice Chairman; Mr. Muhammad Atif Hanif, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member; Mr. Shaher Eid Abdul Haleem Suleiman, Board Member; Dr. Vaseehar Hassan Bin Abdul Razack, Board Member; and Mr. Shahzad Ismail, Head CBG - Central Region. The guests were welcomed by Mr. Shahid Hussain, Rector, LUMS; Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, LUMS; and Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Advancement.
Welcoming the delegation to campus, Dr. Ali Cheema stated, “We are delighted to welcome you to LUMS. It is wonderful that you visited our university. Much of the research taking place here thrives on collaboration, and at the core of our work is a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.”
The conversation reflected a shared vision — to enable access to world-class education for talented students, regardless of their financial background. The role of the banking sector in supporting this mission emerged as a key theme.
Mr. Hanif highlighted the importance of this engagement, stating, “We believe in collaborating with universities to create positive changes. This is the right time to engage so that talented people can access the best education. Talent and merit are all that should matter for every student to move forward.”
The visit concluded with a campus tour and a tree plantation activity — a gesture symbolising a mutual commitment to cultivating knowledge, sustainability, and a future where education and the environment grow hand in hand.
This sentiment was perfectly captured by Dr. Razack, who shared, “We should collaborate among ourselves and be providers of talent to the world.”
LUMS looks forward to exploring opportunities for partnership with Al Baraka Bank and deeply appreciates their belief in the transformative power of education.
