BSc Class of 2015 Establishes Endowed Scholarship Fund in Memory of Zahra Khan
The friends and family of Zahra Khan have come together to honour the memory of their beloved Zahra by establishing an endowed grant in her name. The fund will support the education of a National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholar in perpetuity. Through this initiative, Zahra’s loved ones seek to celebrate her remarkable life and hope that her legacy of compassion, strength, and generosity continues to inspire future generations at LUMS.
Zahra was a beacon of hope and joy, someone whose boundless energy, zest for life, and indomitable strength left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. After graduating from LUMS, she built a successful career in advertising before pouring her heart into her entrepreneurial venture, If You Like Cheese (IYLC), which she co-founded with her husband, Babar (LUMS ’15). The No Nonsense Cheesecake by IYLC quickly became a cherished household name, reflecting Zahra’s creativity, warmth, and belief in sharing simple joys with others.
Even as she bravely battled breast cancer, Zahra remained a symbol of resilience and grace. She used her voice to support and uplift others through her cancer awareness platform, @heybreastie, which continues to serve as a source of comfort, strength, and vital information for countless individuals. Her courage and openness continue to inspire lives and foster a sense of community and hope.
Reflecting on their friendship and shared years at LUMS, Zahra’s friends shared, “We are privileged to establish a scholarship fund in Zahra’s name, inspired by her deeply compassionate nature and enduring commitment to helping others. Zahra’s time at LUMS was transformative and marked by meaningful connections and a drive to bring her ideas to life; not only for herself, but always with the intention of uplifting those around her. It was here that her journey truly began, shaping her into the remarkable entrepreneur, creative thinker, brilliant strategist, great friend, and incredibly compassionate human being we all cherished.”
Zahra’s legacy is one of courage and humanity, blending ingenuity with a heartfelt desire to serve. By founding this scholarship, her loved ones aim to honour Zahra’s memory and extend her vision for a brighter, more caring world. It is a gesture of gratitude to the place and the people who helped shape her, and a way to support future students with the same spirit. They also hope that this fund becomes a lasting vessel for sawaab and sadqa-jariyah for Zahra, allowing the positive energy she radiated to continue blessing her in the hereafter. May her compassion, creativity, and courage inspire future generations.
Through this endowed fund, Zahra’s friends and family hope that her light will continue to shine brightly, uplifting scholars, transforming lives, and carrying her spirit forward.
