Student Research Grants 2025-26 by the Saida Waheed Gender Initiative
The Saida Waheed Gender Initiative (SWGI) is pleased to announce that it is offering grants for student-led research and senior projects that use gender and related issues as analytical tools in their work. Undergraduate students from all schools and departments at LUMS are eligible to apply.
The following thematic areas are provided as suggestions; students are welcome to explore their own themes.

• Gender in Media and Literature
• Culture, Power, and Inequality
• Gender and Science
• Violence and Trauma
• Social, Institutional, and Legal Discourses of Gender and Sexuality
• Cross-Cultural, Transnational, and Historical Perspective on Sex and Gender
• Identity, Embodiment, and Bodies
• Gender and Social Media
• Movements and Activism
• Masculinities
• Gender, Class, and Work
• Gender, Sexuality and Health
Grantees will be required to present their work-in-progress as part of SWGI’s Spring 2026 events and submit a 1,000-word write-up. All work will be published on the SWGI website, with the two best papers featured in the Gender Bi-Annual.
Submission Guidelines
Interested students must submit a brief proposal and budget by completing this form by October 8. Access to the form requires logging in through a LUMS email ID. Email submissions should carry the subject line Student Grants | SWGI.
